Celebrating the completion of the Monkton Boat Club

@EatSmartMCS are always in the thick of things when it comes to supporting the School launch exciting new premises and Saturday 13th September 2014 was no exception!

The new Club House was put to use as the all-important morning coffee station with views from the balcony over the river. An opportunity for guests to enjoy a Pimms on the River bank followed while taking in this impressive new facility and watching the various races on the water.

A more casual style of lunch time dining was called for to support this prestigious event and so the Palmer & Howells’ team utilised the extremely successful Street Food concept to full effect. A British market stall offering freshly baked quiches and local cheeses were complemented by hand crafted chutneys and fresh bread from Bath Bakery. Guests could then add Mexican chilli con carne with tacos, home-made guacamole tomato salsa & sour cream before moving on to sample the Thai Green Chicken Curry with jasmine rice & pineapple salsa. Dessert consisted local strawberries and fresh fruit supplied by Lovejoys of Melksham with lashings of Ivy House clotted cream for a spot of indulgence.

Afternoon tea back in the Club House provided OM’s the chance to catch up and reflect on rowing at Monkton across the decades while enjoying a refreshing cup of D J Miles tea and some sweet treats to round the day off.

This was a day to get it right for Monkton and the catering team are proud to have helped launch the new Boat Club facility to the benefit of future generations of Monkton rowers
